The National Information and Communications Technology Authority (NICTA), in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) under the European Union STREIT (Support to Rural Entrepreneurship, Investment & Trade) PNG Program, invites proposals from experienced and qualified Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and sustainable power system providers. This initiative forms part of the “Connect Our Schools” project, which seeks to deliver reliable fixed broadband internet connectivity, including Wi-Fi hotspots, powered by sustainable solar energy systems to designated resource centres in selected schools across East and West Sepik Provinces.
These resource centres will empower farmers in the cocoa, vanilla, and fisheries value chains by providing access to digital tools, training, and market information. As a cornerstone of the STREIT Program’s efforts to advance rural entrepreneurship and sustainable development, this project aims to bridge the digital divide, enhance digital literacy, and enable rural communities to participate fully in the digital economy.
The scope of this RFP includes the supply, installation, and maintenance of fixed broadband internet systems and solar power solutions with a minimum operational duration of two years. Proposals must demonstrate proven expertise in delivering high-quality broadband connectivity and reliable solar-powered energy systems, particularly in remote or challenging environments.
